Families with neurodiverse and typical students will enjoy a day full of outdoor fun\, including horse rides\, a petting zoo\, a hayride scavenger hunt\, and plenty of outdoor games. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy nature\, make memories\, and experience life on the ranch together. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPlease remember to bring a sack lunch and plenty of water\, and wear long pants and closed-toe shoes for comfort and safety. The facility is fully accessible\, ensuring everyone can join in the fun! \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSheri and Roger Mitzel specially designed this experience to serve children with special needs and neurodiversities and their families. SUMMARY:Food Bank-Volunteer Opportunity (6th-12th Graders)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a meaningful volunteer experience at the San Antonio Food Bank\, where students in grades 6–12 can make a real difference in our community! Volunteers will help sort\, inspect\, and pack food donations that will be distributed to families in need across South Texas. This hands-on service opportunity is a great way to develop teamwork skills\, earn service hours\, and see the impact of helping others firsthand. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nJob Description: \n\n\n\nGroups and individuals work together to sort and/or pack produce\, non-perishable foods\, and household items\, preparing them for distribution. Duties may include checking for expiration dates\, opened packages and spoilage\, labeling cans\, and packing bags of food or household items. LUCY (LUCIA) – Inspired by Saint Agatha\, Lucia dedicated herself to Christ despite pressure from her loved ones\, humiliation\, and torture by the governor of Sicily. This courageous martyr is the patron saint of those with eye ailments. \n\n\n\nST. DOMINIC DE GUZMAN – After his holy mother had difficulty conceiving\, Dominic was the answer to her prayers. As a priest\, he founded the Order of Friars Preachers (Dominicans) to counter heresy by spreading the Gospel with love\, and promoted the Holy Rosary. \n\n\n\nST. THOMAS AQUINAS – Bullied as a “dumb ox” for being large\, shy\, and slow of speech\, Thomas is now perhaps the most famous Catholic philosopher and theologian. This ‘Doctor of the Church’ wrote thousands of pages\, yet humbly compared his accomplishments to straw. \n\n\n\nST. CATHERINE OF SIENA – Gifted with a mystical prayer relationship with Jesus\, Caterina became a bridge-builder and peacemaker – famously advising popes and princes.
